Summer Jam Camp is a week-long music production camp for musicians ages 8-15. Campers learn songwriting, electronic beat-making, and recording, while working on individual and group projects. Prior experience on an instrument is recommended, but not required.

Camp Dates & Location
July 22-26, 2024 at Queen Bee Music Association, 1596 Pacheco Street, in the Aspen Plaza Building. When you arrive, look for signs for Queen Bee's Check-In Table.
Drop Off & Pick Up:
Summer Jam Camp is a closed campus camp. We require that you sign your child in & out at the check-in table every day with a staff member. Drop off is rolling, anytime between 9am and 10am. So if your camper needs a little extra sleep one day, they won’t miss crucial activities.
Students may be picked up from camp starting at 3:00pm and as late as 4:00pm. During this time, students will have the option to participate in outdoor games, recording and practice time, and art activities.
Lunch & Snack:
Please pack two snacks for your student each day. Snack time occurs twice each day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
All campers should pack a bag lunch every day of camp. We will eat lunch at 12:00 pm. Keep in mind campers won’t have access to a microwave, so pack ready to eat foods and utensils if needed. There is no refrigeration available.

Final Listening Party:
On Friday, July 26, we'll host a listening party from 3-4pm to share all of the creations of the Summer Jam Campers. The party will be held outdoors, weather permitting.
Brian Nelson (aka Teacher B) is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston where he studied a variety of instruments and musical styles. He has played music for more than 25 years and taught music for fifteen. From West African drum and dance to ukulele sing alongs to guitar lessons for all ages, Nelson brings his passion for music and life into the classroom. In addition to teaching and playing music, he is also the Artistic Director of Queen Bee Music Association.
Eric Carlson plays and teaches music production, banjo, fiddle, guitar, and marimba. He has 14 years of experience leading teenagers in electronic music class, stringbands, marimba ensembles at the Academy for Technology and the Classics (ATC), a public charter school in Santa Fe. Eric has a Masters Degree in Music Education from Boston University. From 2009-2011 he served as President of the Southwest Pickers, presenters of the Santa Fe Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Festival. He has also served on the board of the Santa Fe Traditional Music Festival. Eric has written for Flatpick Guitar magazine, and was instrumental in the successful campaign to legalize busking, or street performance, in Santa Fe. He performs with his two sons, Sam and Jonah, in The Turquoise Tuners and is proud to be a part of the team at Queen Bee.
Jules Hoffman (they/them) is an eclectic artist and visionary based in Northern New Mexico. As a singer-songwriter, Jules has toured, opened for major acts and performed at the SXSW music festival. Jules’ passion for music extends to teaching, taking them all over the world and all over YouTube. Jules uses videography, production and visual art as a way to connect beyond their music. When Jules isn’t making music they are usually cooking for friends or hiking with their dog.
Catherine "Catho" Parke is a singer and multi-instrumentalist from Austin, Texas. She plays violin, guitar, bass, and piano. She attended the Berklee College of Music and has been touring with bands as a utility player and harmony vocalist since she graduated in 2014. In the last few years, she has shifted her focus towards music production, for both her own original compositions and for other people’s projects. She partnered with children’s music artist Jules! to record their debut album “Jamming With Jules!”. Since its release, Jules and Catho have been hitting the road with a joyful and entertaining live set. They are currently working on their follow-up album, and gearing up to travel much more this year, spreading the joy of music to young, old, and everyone in between.
